Salice
Back
Salice Occhiali was founded in 1919 in Musso, a village
at the northern end of Como Lake. Founded by Cav. Vitaliano
Salice, it initially produced handmade eyeglasses and
cases. Over time he transformed the company into a small
industry, laying the foundations for the craftsmanship
and attention to detail, that is today still one of
the strong points of the company's production.
The company moved to its current site, in Gravedona,
in 1945, expanding its production to meet the new market
demands: a new line of protective goggles and masks
for industrial use was launched, as well as a line of
motorcycle goggles. Today the plant is certified ISO
9001 and is equipped with modern automated production
machinery, but each article is carefully inspected with
the same attention to detail by specially trained personnel.
This is one of the reasons why Salice eyeglasses and
goggles are so popular all over the world.
During the sixties, Salice committed itself to the
production of eyeglasses for a new sport: skiing. Each
year it designed a new line, with particular attention
to the technical aspects, as well as the design styles.
Skiing had become far more popular, and even the fashion
world began to take notice: women were much more concerned
with this aspect and special models were designed with
them in mind, in colours that matched those of the ski
clothing of the times. Today Salice still operate the
same principles, which is why they are top of their
field.
